Why I Chose a Homebirth Instead of a Hospital Birth

For a long time, I thought homebirth was extreme.

It wasn’t something I ever imagined choosing for myself. Like many women, I assumed the hospital was the safest and most responsible option… no questions asked. But as I began to explore my choices more deeply, my perspective started to shift.

What changed everything for me was stepping into the birth world in a more hands-on way. I connected with a homebirth midwife and began assisting at births myself. What I witnessed there was something I hadn’t fully understood before — calm, supported, physiological birth. Women moving through labor with strength, presence, and trust in their bodies.

It challenged everything I thought I knew about birth.

This video isn’t my full birth story. It’s the foundation behind why I chose homebirth in the first place — the questions I asked, the preparation that went into it, and the deeper understanding I gained about what birth could be.

Choosing homebirth pushed me beyond my limits. It humbled me, stretched me, and ultimately gave me a sense of dignity and confidence as I stepped into motherhood that I don’t think I would have found any other way.

This isn’t meant to be advice or a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s simply my experience, shared for women who are curious, questioning, or wanting to approach pregnancy and birth more intentionally.
