Choosing Homebirth | A 16-Hour Unmedicated Birth Story
For years, I thought deeply about how I wanted to bring my baby into the world.
What started as curiosity slowly became conviction as I spent time learning, preparing, and stepping into the birth space myself. After assisting at homebirths alongside a licensed midwife, I saw something I hadn’t fully understood before — birth could be calm, supported, and deeply physiological. It didn’t have to follow the script I had always been shown.
By the time I became pregnant, I knew I wanted something different.
My labor began late in the evening after a full day out, and over the next 16 hours I experienced birth in a way that pushed me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It was intense. It was painful. It was humbling. And it was also one of the most empowering experiences of my life.
This video is my full birth story — not just what happened, but how my perspective on birth shifted, how years of preparation shaped my experience, and what it looked like to move through labor supported primarily by my husband in our own home.
This isn’t meant to be advice or a one-size-fits-all approach. It’s simply my experience, shared for women who are curious, questioning, or wanting to understand what intentional, supported homebirth can look like.
